Quick answer

Smart casual is the rule: shorts, T-shirts and sleeveless shirts are out. Seats are assigned ahead of time on a flat floor, and the front rows cost more. The concert is listed as unsuitable for people with limited mobility, and the Golden Hall has many steps and no elevator. Food and drink are extra, and the dinner version bans large bags.

Dress code

The booking page asks for smart casual dress at the concert. It says no shorts and no T-shirts, and it lists shorts and sleeveless shirts as not allowed. Smart casual is the organiser's phrase, and the two items named as not allowed are the ones to avoid.

Bags

The dinner and concert booking bans luggage and large bags, and the admission ticket tells visitors to bring comfortable shoes. The concert-only page does not list a bag rule, so a small bag is the safe choice. Leave anything bulky at your hotel, and if you are coming from a day of sightseeing, drop a rucksack there first. Guests describe a climb on foot between the top station and the hall.

Seats

Seats are allocated in advance, and the booking page shows the categories for your date. Guests report that arriving early does not help, that the seating is flat and not tiered, and that the chairs are offset slightly so that those further back can see. The best view, they say, is nearer the front, which costs more. Travellers also say clearer sightline information would help. For VIP and Golden VIP dinner bookings in the Castle Hall season, seats sit in the middle or side section.

Stairs and the hall for your date

The booking page ties each range of dates to the Golden Hall, the Arms Hall or the Castle Hall. It lists the concert as unsuitable for people with limited mobility and says the Golden Hall has many steps and no elevator. The fortress's accessibility page says it offers barrier-free tours, which are a different product. If a member of your party struggles with stairs, ask before you book and not after. Read the fortress's accessibility page too, which describes barrier-free tours by day.

Drinks and food

The concert ticket covers the concert and the funicular, and nothing to eat or drink. A guest reports buying a glass outside the hall before the music. On the dinner version a three-course meal is included, with drinks only on the Golden VIP option. Allergy, vegetarian and vegan requests go straight to the service staff in the restaurant.

Cancelling and changing

A ticket bought on GetYourGuide for this concert can be cancelled a day ahead for the full fare, and a booking can be held without paying today. Because the hall, the start time and the seat categories all depend on the date, settle the date before anything else. The fortress's opening-hours page shows the funicular maintenance weeks; if one falls in your stay, read your confirmation for changes before you set out.

Who this isn't for

People who need step-free access, who want a flexible seat choice on the day, or who prefer a standing, informal evening will not find it here. The concert is a seated, dressed-up hour and a half in a historic hall, with a funicular ride at each end. It also does not suit a party that wants to arrive at the last minute, since the ride up and the walk to the hall take time and seats are fixed in advance.
